Row,Row,Row Your Boat! – Lower Tahquamenon Falls
Instead of admiring the uniquely beautiful Lower Tahquamenon Falls from a far, grab the oars and set out for a short row and a closer look. Every year people are drawn to Tahquamenon Falls State Park for the stunning views of the mighty Upper Tahquamenon Falls. And while we agree the view is pretty spectacular, you shouldn’t miss out on the really unique experiences you’ll find at the Lower Falls.
Rowboat rentals are available at a reasonable rate. You have the option of whiling away the afternoon rowing around the calm waters of the river basin simply enjoying the view and that wonderful sound of rushing water cascading over ancient rock ledges or docking the boat at the small island that splits the Lower Falls into two unique sections. There is a great little trail around the perimeter of island that brings you even closer to the Falls. You won’t get a view like this from the shore!
Did you pack a pole? Have time to stay for a while? Cast a line in the River. You just may snag a northern pike, muskie, walleye or brown trout. And yes, singing is allowed while you row…..just don’t scare the fish!
After you finish you dock the boat, grab an ice cream cone or a souvenir at the gift shop. You can spend an afternoon or days at the Park with the kids depending on what your family enjoys!
